This church was built between 1233 and 1237 as part of an abbey of the Dominican Order. There were lots of changes to the original building during the centuries, especially after the earthquake of 1356
In the reformation most of the interior was destroyed and the abbey was closed.
In 1876 the church was completely refurbished and was handed over to the Christian Catholic Church of Switzerland.
