The Possum Ridge Loop Trail is a 6 mile trail through the woods at Kentucky's Taylorsville Lake State Park. The trail is very popular with hikers and horse riders alike. This bridge crosses over a small creek (that may be dry if there hasn't been rain recently), a creek that gradually enlarges and flows into Taylorsville Lake near the Possum Ridge boat ramp.
The bridge raises the question of why it was decided to building a covered bridge. It seems like the roof of the bridge serves mainly as an obstacle for those many people who cross the bridge on horseback.
If you're going to travel the trail on horseback, you'll have to start at the horse trailer parking area (N 38º 1.857' W 85º 14.655') and ride a good ways from there. But if you're hiking, the trail access closest to the bridge is at the picnic shelter area (N 38º 1.498' W 85º 15.834'), then start on the trail at the east end of the parking lot.
