Fort Washita was built in 1856 from Limestone quarried from the local area. The West Barracks upper floors conatined company quarters and orderly rooms for comapny sargans. The ground flor was a kitchen mess hall and commissary. After the Civil War a local family the Colberts used it as a home until the building burned circa 1917.
