On the north side of the city of Winnipeg, alongside the Red River, is Kildonan Park.

It is a sizable park that has a lot to offer.

There are several walking trails, especially along the Red River. In addition to views of the river, there are many American Elms and other old trees that you can walk among.

The Kildonan Municipal Golf Course, Winnipeg's oldest golf course, has 18 holes, and, on its web site, you can make reservations.

Other facilities include a swimming pool (closed at the time - June 17), an open air theatre, and a flower garden.

An unusual landmark is the Witch's Hut, which represents the house that Hansel and Gretel found in the woods.

The main entrance is from Main Street. There is an outlet via Armstrong Ave. The waymark is located at the Pequis Pavilion, which has a parking lot and rest room facilities. At this location are information kiosks as well as a duck pond (that was drained at the time of the visit). At the pavilion is a sign that shows the park as part of a larger network of parks and landmarks in this part of Winnipeg.

The park is available for groups. You can use the park web site to make a reservation.

A detailed map is available here: (visit link)
