H&J Smith was founded in Invercargill in 1900 and now has stores in Gore, Balclutha, Te Anau, and Queenstown. In addition, it has many businesses and franchises throughout Invercargill. It has been slowly renovating its Invercargill store from a 1920s appearance to a more modern one.
