"This shed houses the last of the Queens Park deep bore wells.

In the city's early times, wells like this used to supply water to the whole city. Some sank as low as 35 metres to the vast water deposits under the city.

Electricity powered pumps, of between 15 to 50 horsepower, pumped water to the city's water-tower site.

This well (called Number 1 Bore), only supplies the Parks water features now.

They become outdated when cleaner, piped water from Branxholme came to pass in 1959.
