[EN] Kastellet - or Citadellet Frederikshavn - at Copenhagen Harbour, Denmark was founded in the 16th century and was a part of the Danish capital's defence until the 18th century.

Kastellet is shaped like a pentagram with five bastions named as follows: The King’s Bastion, The Queen’s Bastion, The Count’s Bastion, the Prince's Bastion and the Princess’ Bastion.

Kastellet consists of ramparts and moats and it has several well preserved buildings including a windmill, a church and a prison. However the windmill and the prison are no longer in use.

Nowadays Kastellet is one of the best preserved fortifications in Northern Europe.

Kastellet is open to the public and has open every day from 06:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

[DA] Kastellet - eller Citadellet Frederikshavn - ved Københavns Havn blev bygget i det 16'de århundrede som en del af Københavns befæstning indtil det 19'de århundrede.

Kastellet har form som en femkant med fem bastioner benævnte som følger: Kongens Bastion, Dronningens Bastion, Grevens Bastion, Prinsens Bastion og Princessens Bastion.

Kastellet består af volde og voldgrave, og der er flere velbevarede bygninger heriblandt en vindmølle, en kirke og et fængsel. Dog er vindmøllen og fængslet ikke længere i brug.

Nutildags er Kastellet et af de bedst bevarede fæstningsanlæg i Nordeuropa.

Kastellet er åbent for publikum, og har åbent hver dag fra fra kl. 06:00 til 22:00.
