The 11th century abbey of Saint-Pierre de Solesmes in France is the origin and center of this congregation, with twenty-four monasteries of monks and eight of nuns in eleven countries of Europe, Africa, and North and Central America.

This location was founded by Abbaye Sainte-Marie des Deux-Montagnes in Canada.

The nuns support themselves mainly through the manufacture and distribution of altar bread for communion services.
