Isaac and Catherine Rodkey home - Edmond, OK - Relocated Structures on Waymarking.com

Isaac Rodkey learned the milling business in Kansas, and Catherine was a teacher before they met. When Isaac moved to Oklahoma he ran Rodkey's Flour Mill. Catherine was known for the wonderful parties she held. The Rodkey home is a restoration project of the Edmond Historical Society and the Edmond Historical Preservation Trust for the Citizens of Edmond.
The home used to be located in downtown Edmond, next to what is now an Realty office. One of the former Historical Museum employees said she remembers standing in front of this house every day when she got off school, waiting to be picked up by her mom.
When the neighboring business wanted to purchase the land, there was an agreement made to preserve the house and move it to another location. The City Council had discussions about whether to move the house to Mitch Park where there is a lot of property, or to the much smaller Stephenson Park that also houses the Edmond Historical Museum, a hut now on the National Register of Historic Places, and the one-room schoolhouse that is open as a museum on certain days. Stephenson Park was the logical place to move the house, and funds were secured to pay for the move. The EHM is still working on plans for the house, and there has been talk about setting it up for museum visitors to see.
