[FR] Elle est l'œuvre de Vital Dubray (1813-1892), son piédestal celle de Louis Desmarest et son bronze provient des canons saisis à la bataille d'Austerlitz. Seule statue équestre de Rouen, elle a échappé de peu à la fonte sous la troisième République puis à nouveau pendant la seconde guerre mondiale.
[EN] It is the work of Vital Dubray (1813-1892), its pedestal that of Louis Desmarest and its bronze came from canons seized at the battle of Austerlitz. It is the only equestrian statue in Rouen, having narrowly escaped being melted down during the 3rd Republic and once again during the Second World War.
