In 1929 a few months before the depression hit, our city got this high quality block building that a few months later it would never be able to afford. The relief panels represent Canadian animals, fish and flora.

A few years ago there was talk of building a new more modern looking larger structure but fortunately cooler heads prevailed and restoration not destruction won out. Although few people take notice, I think it is a treasure for this prairie town and might inspire people in other communities to look up. They may find treasures in their own back yard too
