There are several ballfields on the Optimist athletic complex. Summer months find many of the local youth playing baseball in the evenings. The local Optimist Club frequently host tournaments after the regular season is over. Supported by the local clubs and area businesses, boys and girls hone their skills as ball players. Most notable are Russ Adams and Brett Butler, who began there baseball careers here on the Optimist Fields. Both now play professional baseball.
