A wonderful norman church with some fine architectural features ,and some lovely examples of stained glass windows.

There are no traces of the earlier Saxon church, the Normans built a church on the same site and the earliest part of this church dates from around 1100. The norman churches are built in the shape of a cross, with transepts to the north and south of the nave. as Brackley became properous with the wool trade the church was extended and a south aisle and tower were added, this is most interesting as it is more elaborate than the rest of the building above the west door there are carved figures of St Peter and St Hugh. in the 14th century more changes occured with the addition of the clerestory roof to the nave and the building of the Lady Chapel and the north Aisle. this church has some unusual features the main door is through the tower while most churches the entrance is through the north door.
Legend has it that the devil got into Brackley church but was driven out through the north door which was filled in to prevent his return.
There is a memorial in the lady chapel dated 1579 to a local man
