Lassen Peak is located in Lassen Volcanic National Park. The distant picture in the gallery is taken from a vista point inside the park, at the above coordinates. There is a trail to the top of the mountain, its about 5 miles round trip with almost a 2000 foot elevation gain. Parking for the trail is located at N40 28.491 W121 30.344.
Lassen is still considered an active volcano. There are still boiling mud pots, steaming ground, roaring fumaroles, and sulfurous gases that indicate activity is still going on in the area.
