Originally opened in 1886, the Gundagai Railway Station was at the end of a branch line to Cootamundra some 52km away. The train line no longer operates.

The Gundagai Railway Station was restored in the 1990s and is now a museum with many historical railway items.

The museum rooms are open every day from 10am - 3pm. Visitors are asked to make a gold coin donation.
