Here in the Bad Vilbel district of Gronau is where the rivers Nidda and Nidder join. The Nidda has its source in the Vogelsberg Mountains at the Taufstein and covers a distance of 63 kilometers (39,1 miles) at this point. The Nidder rises at the Herchenhainer Höhe, also in the Vogelsberg Mountains, and covers a distance of 68,3 kilometers (42,4 miles). From here they flow together as Nidda for another 26,7 kilometers (16,6 miles), until they flow in the Main near Frankfurt-Höchst.
