Walter Scott Reserve is an area of native bush near Mt. Pirongia, (29km or 25minutes drive from Te Awamutu.
A grove of Rimu trees has been dedicated to Athol Caldwell, a keen amateur botanist.
Athol Caldwell, chief electrical engineer in the Hamilton electricity department, was also a conservationist and planted quite an area of electricity department land in natives.
This small reserve is owned by the Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society of which Athol Caldwell was a member.
Visitors are welcome to use the loop track (1 hour) which passes through beautiful bush and the Rimu Grove.
