Taumarunui is a railway town on the main trunk line running north and south, about mid-distance between Auckland and Wellington. This caboose is part of an old train now being used as a Cafe and Takeaways shop. It is parked on the narrow grass strip between the railway track and the main road through Taumarunui.

Since the early 1900’s Taumarunui has been known as “Taumarunui heart of the King Country” and even has an old famous song about its early rail history “Taumarunui on the Main Trunk Line”.
Current Use:
The caboose is now part of a set train carriages forming a Cafe and Takeaways Shop beside the Main Trunk Line.
