This fine 16th century castle built for the Fraser family was altered to take the first lighthouse by the Commissioner of the Northern Lighthouses in 1787. It is still in working order but has now been replaced by a small unmanned light nearby. The lighthouse remains much as it was left by the last lighthouse crew.
Managed by Kinnaird Head Trust, joint ticket with Scotland National Lighthouse Museum.
