EN: The highest flood levels in Basel. The entries are from 1641 to 1881, with a record in 1852. From the marks there are stairs with around 30 steps down to the current bank of the Rhine.
All of those floods happened before there were several hydroelectric power plants built upstream in the late 19th century.
DE: Die höchsten Hochwasserstände in Basel. Die Einträge sind von 1641 bis 1881, mit einem Rekord von 1852. Von der Stelle der Markierungen sind es noch rund 30 Treppenstufen hinunter zum heutigen Rheinufer.
All diese Überschwemmungen ereigneten sich, bevor im späten 19. Jahrhundert mehrere Wasserkraftwerke stromaufwärts gebaut wurden, die heute auch zur Regulierung des Wasserstands genutzt werden können.
