From the website:

St. Stephen’s opened its doors as a mission church in 1966 as a small group of Christians with a desire to worship together and bring others into their faith community and first met in a former bait and tackle shop on Grapevine Highway. The Reverend Vernon Gotcher led the new mission and by 1967, the St. Stephen’s moved to a newly built chapel on Hurstview Road (today behind the Bishop Davies Nursing Center).

By 1974, the mission had become a self-sustaining parish, noted in the diocese for its commitment to outreach. Unfortunately, amid a faltering North Texas economy, plans to relocate in the early 80’s had to be abandoned as the parish faced losses of members. These were difficult years and a time to reorganize and revitalize St. Stephen’s mission and ministries.

In 1993, The Reverend William Taylor became rector and by 1997 the congregation of just over 100 attendees committed to purchasing the land on Precinct Line Road where St. Stephen’s is currently located. In 1998, a capital campaign, “Find Us Faithful,” commenced and in October 2000 the congregation celebrated the opening of a new multi-purpose and education center. The next year, Fr. Taylor accepted a post at the Episcopal Renewal Center and in 2002 the Reverend Frank St. Amour arrived as the parish began a new phase of development.
