The Church of St. Sebastian (Chiesa di San Sebastiano) is the most attractive religious building of small medieval town Ferla, which is located 40 km west of Siracusa. The original church was built in 1481, but it was completely rebuilt after the terrific earthquake of 1693, which destroyed most of towns in this region of Sicily. Church has an imposing Baroque façade dating from the 1700, when the ruins of the old church were completely rebuilt in the Baroque spirit.
The church's interior has three naves and preserves relics of St. John the Baptist, St. Sebastian, St. Lucia and St. Stephen. The facade is embellished outside by statues of Baroque architect and sculptor Michelangelo Di Giacomo, depicting the St. Sebastian's death. Church houses several chapels and works of art, like a 1600’s wooden statue representing the Immaculate and a 1700’s painting depicting The Martyrdom of St. Sebastian.
