EN: The Spiegelhof is the headquarters of the cantonal police of Basel-Stadt. The elongated purpose building is located on the edge of the old town and was built around 1939. In addition to the police and the police museum, there are several other public departments in the building, such as the passport office, immigration office or lost and found. The police sign next to the main entrance is quite small and inconspicuous.
DE: Der Spiegelhof ist das Hauptquartier der Kantonspolizei Basel-Stadt. Das langgezogene Zweckgebäude befindet sich am Rand der Altstadt und wurde um 1939 gebaut. Neben der Polizei und dem Polizeimuseum befinden sich in dem Gebäude noch einige andere öffentliche Einrichtungen, wie Passbüro, Einwanderungsbehörde oder Fundbüro. Das Polizei-Schild neben dem Haupteingang ist ziemlich klein und unauffällig.

I have had NO problems with taking photos of Police stations but please respect the fact that some services may be nervous about having their photo taken and inquire as to why... I have found that once things are explained they are more than happy to let me photograph the building, crest, chief... (they are people too!)
