The Church of Virgin Mary - the oldest at Prague castle and the second oldest in Bohemia - was built in the years 882 - 884 at the express wish of Prince Borivoj I. It became the burial place of Prince Spytihnev (d. 915) and his wife (d. 918). It was rebuilt in the 11the century, but then destroyed by fire in the 13th century.
