The Korean YMCA has organizations in several dozen major cities across the country. This one does not appear on the national web site.
The building is a multiple use buildin, as are most buildings in Korea, housing businesses and offices such as the Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives, whose logo and website appear on the sign.
Gimje has grown from a small farming town to incorporate the entire gun (county) of Gimje in North Jeolla Province. This area is still prime agricultural land, having been the best rice cultivation since the early Baekje Kingdom 2,000 years ago. The Jeolla Provinces are often called the "Rice Bowl of Korea," with it's broad, flat planes.
