EN: The station of Laufenburg was built in 1892. It was a stop on the route from Stein-Säckingen to Koblenz. In 1994, the passenger traffic between Laufenburg and Koblenz was discontinued. Freight traffic still uses the route. Since then, Laufenburg has been the terminus of the S1 line of the S-Bahn network of Basel. Today, the station has only one track with a platform and this ends at the station, the other three tracks are for the passage of freight trains.
Today, one regional train leaves Laufenburg to Basel every hour, six bus lines connect Laufenburg with the larger towns of the nearer surroundings.
The station building itself is no longer used by the railway company; it is today a day care center.
DE: Der Bahnhof von Laufenburg wurde 1892 erbaut. Er war ein Halt auf der Strecke von Stein-Säckingen nach Koblenz. 1994 wurde der Personenverkehr zwischen Laufenburg und Koblenz eingestellt. Der Güterverkehr nutzt die Strecke aber noch. Seither ist Laufenburg die Endstation der Linie S1 des S-Bahnnetzes von Basel. Heute besitzt der Bahnhof nur noch ein Gleis mit Bahnsteig und dieses endet am Bahnhof, die anderen drei Gleise sind für die Durchfahrt von Güterzügen.
Heute fährt ab Laufenburg ein Regionalzug pro Stunde nach Basel, sechs Buslinien verbinden Laufenburg zusätzlich mit den grösseren Orten der naäheren Umgebung.
Das Bahhofsgebäude selbst wird nicht mehr von der Bahn verwendet; es ist heute eine Kindertagesstätte.
