Remember with gratitude
the men who laid down their lives
in the Great War
1914 - 1918.
The names of the fallen are listed on four plaques
either side of the central cross.
The Second World War names are commemorated with plaques around the top .
Around the bottom is inscribed :
" Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends "
There is a further Chapel in the Cathedral dedicated to the War Dead, and a book of remembrance , the pages are turned daily.
