This Christian Cross, the so-called 'Schwedenkreuz' (English: Swedish Cross, 1577), can be found near the bridge to the Isle of Mainau, a garden island in Lake Constance, Germany.
In 1647, after a disasterous defeat against the Swedes in the Thirty Years´ War, the Mainau becomes Swedish property for several months. Taking with them everything of value - only this Cross is left behind - the Swedes withdraw from the island in 1649.
