A recent Tastecasting Event in Denver (visit link) brought us to this wonderful bakery that serves the most unique sandwiches.
Here is a recent review that sums it up: (visit link)

Hi*Rise, a new bakery/cafe with breakfast and lunch menus featuring fresh baked breads, announces its grand opening at 2162 Larimer Street, Denver.

"We knew our emphasis had to be bread-fresh and baked on-site," commented Owner Doug Anderson. "We're also more than a sandwich shop. Customers can enjoy salads and delectable baked goods, like cupcakes, cookies, and pastry."

The menu was designed by Executive Baker Jacqueline Blanchard and Anderson in a collaboration that at first seemed unlikely. Anderson, who had been a manager of restaurants in and around Denver, was searching for a baker in 2008 when he received Blanchard's resume. A classically-trained chef from Louisiana, Blanchard has held positions at restaurants such as Restaurant August in New Orleans, Chez Panisse, and Bouchon (all in California), and most recently was chef de partie at Frasca in Boulder.

"Joining Hi*Rise gives Blanchard the opportunity to create and execute a smaller, well-rounded menu and still maintain her high standards," said Anderson.

Influenced by street food, deli fare, and Cajun flavors, the sometimes eclectic menu revolves around bread, and good bread is always the key.

"Straightforward French baguette, rustic Pugliese, real boiled bagels, or as simply different as putting roasted yam in the focaccia, the bread at Hi*Rise stands out," finished Anderson.

Blanchard is joined by Pastry Chef Natalia Spampinato, whose training began at Andre's Confiserie Suisse in Denver and most recently at Frasca, where she was the assistant pastry chef.

Located in the heart of Downtown Denver's Historic Ballpark Neighborhood, Hi*Rise is open seven days a week: Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Filling a niche for handcrafted bread in Downtown Denver, Owner Doug Anderson had a vision for a restaurant that offered "high end" street food made from scratch. After renovating a 1978 building on Denver's historic Larimer Street, Anderson fulfilled his dream with the opening of Hi*Rise in March 2009. With hallmarks such as Cajun Po' Boy, muffuletta, rosemary yam focaccia, and award winning cupcakes, Hi*Rise has only begun to amaze and win over its customers. For more information, (visit link)
