The bridge was built in 1923 and, two years later, it was named in honor of the Czech president Tomas Garigue Masaryk. It claims to be the first Czech road bridge with the bearing structure from reinforced concrete, arch beams of great span length and suspended floor. It replaced the original wooden bridge, which did not have sufficient carrying capacity. The construction had been planned before the WW1, but the construction did not begin until the 1920's due to the war. In order to save money, the plans to build an iron bridge were changed and reinforced concrete was used instead.
The plaque bears the date 7th March 1925 and dedication to Masaryk.
