William. H. 'Coin' Harvey began work on his resort at Monte Ne about 1901. He built a lagoon, hotel with the first indoor pool of its kind in AR, tower, bank, golf course and amphitheater. The amphitheater is located on the other side of Beaver Lake. It was built in 1920 and was supposed to serve as a base for a pyramid time capsule. Harvey ran out of money and the amphitheater was never finished. Although Monte Ne flourished for some time, eventually it was abandoned, fell to ruins, and flooded by the creation of Beaver Dam/Lake. This is the second time the amphitheater ruins have ever been visible since the lake was formed. The first time was in the 1970s. See waypoint for "Monte Ne - Amphitheater".
