The settlement of Belfast was surveyed in 1843 by Irish born James Atkinson. In 1887 the town was renamed Port Fairy.
Warrnambool was settled in the 1840's, with the first land sales in 1847.
This milestone made from local bluestone (Basalt) most likely would have have been erected sometime between 1847 and 1887.
