Water tower of Luzern was buildt around 1300 as a part of city wall and is octagonal in form. The lowest room was used as a prison cell. Its interior was completly dark. The poor criminals who came there had to sit on a toggle and was lowered into the cell through a hole. Of course in tower was a torture chamber too.
The Tower is attached to Kappelbrucke (Chapel bridge) and is the most photographed monument in Switzerland.
