From the Visitor Center website:

Dothan, Alabama, "Peanut Capital of the World," offers visitors a Southern experience steeped in history and agriculture. Ideally located in Southeast Alabama, Dothan offers to both visitors and travelers excellent dining, shopping, attractions, historic, musical and arts events, award-winning sports facilities hosting both amateur and professional events, and affordable accommodations. Conveniently located on U.S. Hwy. 231, connecting Interstates 65 and 85 to Interstate 10, Dothan is your Gateway to Florida. Whether for a quick stopover or an overnight getaway, we’re out to win you over!

Colorfully and boldly painted on buildings throughout Dothan’s downtown area, 19 murals depict the history of the Wiregrass area. There are more than 60 4-foot-tall, painted peanuts around town that reflect our area’s industries and personalities (even Elvis!) while reminding visitors that Dothan is the "Peanut Capital of the World." Dothan is also home each November to the National Peanut Festival.

Highland Oaks, a Robert Trent Jones Trail, is among the top courses attracting players to Alabama. Nature-lovers are drawn to the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens where a paved nature trail meanders along a peaceful pond and through beautiful gardens. Landmark Park, the Agricultural Museum of Alabama, preserves and celebrates our area’s natural and cultural heritage with several special events throughout the year. Also visit Shute Pecan Company for local peanuts, pecans and honey. For aviation buffs, it’s worth a side trip to nearby Fort Rucker to see the U.S. Army Aviation Museum where more than 160 military aircraft are on display from the Army’s first helicopter to those used in more recent conflicts.

Downtown Dothan is home to many other distinctive attractions including the World’s Smallest City Block, the Dothan Opera House, the G.W. Carver Interpretive Museum, and the Wiregrass Museum of Art, next to which can be found the Joseph Statue, engraved with our city’s motto: "For I heard them say, 'Let us go to Dothan.'" And we hope you will!
