Several hydrants were painted like people in the town of Warren, Rhode Island. This waymark is for a hydrant located on State Street, near the intersection with Eddy Street, and is at one end of a modest park with a memorial. This hydrant is painted to look like a Revolutionary War soldier, likely an officer. The details include a full face and white hair/whig, a blue colored coat, gold buttons, and shoulder tassels, a black hat/top, and white pants. The design is completely around the hydrant.

The artwork is in fair condition, with many chips throughout.

An online web page from an issue of American Heritage magazine in 1975 has a short paragraph that mentions that hydrants were being painted as part of the American Bicentennial celebrations. The other hydrant that I had seen was in the form of a doctor, which indicates that at least some hydrants have been repainted into other designs.
