Adam Fortunate Eagle Nordwall is a Native American artist. Forty years ago in 1969, Nordwall donated this 18 ft totem pole to the city for its centennial celebration the city's incorporation. The city chopped some of the totem pole off at its bottom before installing it in a park. Nordwall demanded that the city restore the chopped pieces, but city refused. Then in the city council chambers, the artist put a curse on Livermore's sewage system.
The missing pieces where restored when about two weeks later the sewer system backed up. Was it the curse or simply coincidence, no one knows.
Nordwall is still was waiting for a formal apology from the city and still hasn't lifted the curse. According to sources, Livermore's current mayor is pushing Livermore to give Nordwall his formal apology.
Additional Requirement?: Admire the beauty and detail of the totem pole. I think you're safe.
What's the Real Story?: The description pretty much agrees with information found on the Internet. The history of the sculptor, Adam Fortunate Eagle Nordwall, also found on the internet, was interesting.
