Praia da Rocha (Rock Beach) got his name from the rocks between the sand and the sea.
Praia Da Rocha started life in the 1930's as a quiet and elegant resort and soon became one of the most famous beaches in Algarve and in the whole country.
Every year during the summer it fills with tourists worldwide, and, even with it´s extension it´s not rare to see it crowded.
In the last years it has beem renewed. The old restaurants were demolished and new ones replaced them together with a crosswalk that crosses the beach on all it´s extension.
By the beach there are also alarge number of restaurants, bars and discos that atract large quantities of tourists during the day and night.
The beach is divided and each division has it´s own life saver, umbrellas and beds for rent as well as every type of boats.
Praia da Rocha has had the Blue Flag award for several years ( (

Given coordinates are from the eastern entrance of the beach near the Marina.
The western end of Praia da Rocha is at the 3 Castelos Belvedere (N 37° 07.033 W 008° 32.568)
