JAC is one of my favorite hiding spots. When things get a little too noisy and hectic in the office, when my phone won't stop ringing, I escape to here and get a lot done. Great location and some even better coffee!

Tucked away in the heart of the old down town part of Charleston, Jackson Avenue Coffee is one of those great little places with the perfect blend of atmosphere and amenities. The coffee is great, the location and layout is perfect for conversation and you might even find some good entertainment.
Of course, key for me (and for this waymark category) is the open wifi connection here. Jackson Avenue is one of the few locations in Charleston that offers free wifi hook ups. They do a decent job in maintaining the equipment and I've seldom found the service to be down.
While I appreciate how quite this location is, there are times when it's really a very busy place. Eastern Illinois University is located here in Charleston, so it's not unusual during the school year to find both students and professors here enjoying coffee and conversation. Thursdays open mic nights and the occasional concert (with the owners sometimes performing) keep the place interesting.
Be sure to check out the back room. It's a fairly new addition to the cafe.
