This boundary stone shows WD38, refers to the war department and is one of 46 similar stones used to mark out the Willsworthy firing range. They date from when the army purchased its first tract of land, virtually following the line of the old Willsworthy Manor in about 1900.

This stone is situated on farmland, right on the route of the Lych Way public footpath.
Type of survey mark: Engraved granite post.
