According to BC Salmon: Wild salmon from British Columbia is one of the most spectacular seafood products in the world. Created and nourished by nature's goodness, BC wild salmon have lived in the cool, pristine Pacific Northwest waters for centuries. Today, not only is wild salmon an integral part of British Columbia's wild and natural environment, it also plays a significant historical and traditional role in the lives of all British Columbians and has defined Canadian cuisine.

The care, attention and years of experience with which BC wild salmon is harvested and processed, makes it the first choice of the world's salmon markets naturally! We are proud to share this special and delicious tradition with the world.

Salmon are amazing fish. Legend tells that they return from the ocean, following the same river, to spawn at the same place they were born. This is a commonly held belief, but one that has yet to be proven. What is true however is that salmon are born as freshwater fish, they migrate to the ocean to grow then return to freshwater again for spawning. There are countless images available on the Internet of salmon seeming to scale rapids in order to return up river. Truly amazing to see this powerful display in nature.

Salmon are one of the most popular fish in the world for use in human consumption. They are also a popular sport fish, and fish farms have been created to add more stock to the world. There is much debate surrounding wild salmon and farm produced salmon, this CBC article being a good place to start your research.
