Chimney of the famous Casa Battló, Gaudi´s masterpiece in Barcelona.
In 1875, Gaudi was comissioned to what was suposed to be a simple reform of the façade of a building in the Passeig de Gracia. Instead, this turn out to be one of Gaudi´s most inspired and poetic work.
Casa Batlló is one of his masterpieces.
The double attic that rises above the façade alludes to animals and legend, and has fuelled the boldest imaginations to arrive and interpretations involving the supposed dragon that St. Jordi fought.
The joy conveyed by this design is also clearly expressed in the chimneys on the rooftop and the chromatic harmony of the light well, wich is done out on tiles of diferent colours that grow dark the higher one climbs.
