Funchal is the chief city of Madeira Island and is the capital of the Madeira Autonomous Region.
The harbour of Funchal, is the busiest in Madeira, and lies within the Funchal city/municipality. Many cruise ships, boats and yachts use Funchal as a port of call.
In New Year´s Eve the Port becomes too small for the amount of Cruise Ships that come to Madeira to see Funchal famous fireworks. Most of this ships have to stay outside the Port in the sea in front of the town.
The given location is one of the best spots near the port where you can watch all the activity.
