This North Carolina historical marker represents the historic meeting of Bartram and Atakullakulla. It was originally installed in 1954 and replaced in 1976.

The historical marker reads as follows:

Philadelphia naturalist, author, exploring this area, met a Cherokee band led by their chief, Atakullakulla, in May 1776, near this spot.
