An impressive obelisk / memorial to men and women who died in the First and Second World Wars. The memorial is unusual in that it remembers the railway men and women of a particular company only.

This memorial was originally erected in remembrance of those railwaymen lost in the Great War 1914-1919. On each of the 4 corners of the pedestal there is a bronze statue of a soldier in suitably sombre / reflective pose. There is a photo of each of them in the gallery.
I have also posted a photo of the original plaque / inscription on the memorial. It is as illegible in real life as it is in the photo. After studying it and tracing it with my finger, this is what it says:
"In grateful memory of 3,719 men of the London and Northwestern Railway Company who for their country, justice and freedom served and died in the Great War 1914-1919. This monument was raised by their compadres and the company as a lasting memorial to their devotion."
Subsequently, the memorial has been further engraved (in two places) thus:
"Remember the men and women of the London Midland and Scottish Railway 1939-1945"
Evidently, there was a change in company name in the intervening period. Euston station is still the London terminus of the "West Coast Mainline" which serves the Midlands, the Northwest and Scotland.
Type of Memorial: Multi-War Memorial

World War 2

It is also engraved as follows: "Remember the men and women of the London Midland and Scottish Railway 1939-1945"

Description of Memorial: The memorial is in the station forecourt area of Euston station. If you're on the bus you will probably pass right by it as it is in the middle of a roundabout on the bus route. If you are there as a pedestrian, you could easily miss it, as I did for years of travelling to London via Euston station. It is an impressive monument and well worth a visit.
