An impressive obelisk / memorial at Euston Station, London. On each of the four corners of the plinth there is a bronze statue of a soldier in suitably reflective / sombre pose. I have posted a photo of the plaque / inscription on the memorial. It is as illegible in real life as it is in the photo. After studying it and tracing it with my finger, this is what it says:
"In grateful memory of 3,719 men of the London and Northwestern Railway Company who for their country, justice and freedom served and died in the Great War 1914-1919. This monument was raised by their compadres and the company as a lasting memorial to their devotion."
The memorial has subsequently been engraved to remember the men and women of the London Midland and Scottish Railway company who died in World War II.
