The bridge crosses the Octagon Lake in the eastern end of the gardens. The lake was damned in later years making the bridge sit lower in the water than originally intended.
Parts of the ceiling of the bridge are becoming worn but it is an interesting sight to behold and to cross from the sheep field to the Chinese House nearby. The National Trust owns the gardens and more information can be found here:visit link
