Barokní kašna Parnas je postavena na míste renesancní kašny z roku 1597 v letech 1680-95 podle projektu Jana Bernarda Fischera z Erlachu. Jeskyni postavil Adam Tobiáš Kracker z Vídne, socharská výzdoba je dílem A. Rigi, A. T. Krackera a neznámých italských socharu. Nejhodnotnejší památka barokní plastiky v brne, ojedinelý príklad barokního naturalizmu a iluzionizmu znacné teatrility. Z vlastní kašny vyrustá trojboký skalnatý útes.

Na jeho severovýchodní strane sedí pri vrcholu alegorická socha, opírající se o toulec se šípy. Pod ní dole je okrídlená san. Na severozápadním útesu sedí postava Babylonie s korunou u pravé nohy, vpravo je okrídlený lev. Na jižním útesu je alegorická postava Persie s rohem hojnosti, vpravo pod ní vylézá ze skály medved. Na vrcholku grotty stojí na premoženém drakovi postava Evropy v triumfálním postoji, držící žezlo. celek oživují drobní živocichové a drácci.


The Baroque Parnas fountain was built in 1680-95 on the site of a Renaissance fountain from 1597 to a design by Johann Bernhard Fischer of Erlach. The cave was built by Adam Tobiáš of Vienna and the sculptural decoration is the work of A. Rigi, A. T. Kracker and an unknown Italian sculptor. It is the most valuable piece of Baroque sculpture in Brno; an isolated example of Baroque naturalism and illusion of considerable dramatic force. In the centre of the fountain is built a three-sided craggy rock.

Sitting on top of the north-eastern side is an allegoric statue leaning against a quiver with arrows. Down beneath it is a winged dragon. On the north-western rock sits the figure of Babylonia with a crown on the right foot and to the right is a winged lion. On the southern rock is the allegoric statue of Persia with a horn of plenty and underneath to the right a bear crawls out from the rock. At the top of the grotto stands the statue of Europe triumphantly holding a sceptre over a vanquished dragon. The whole thing comes to life with miniature creatures and dragons.


Der Parnas-Brunnen wurde an Stelle eines Renaissance-Brunnens aus 1597 in den Jahren 1680-95 nach dem Projekt von Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach erbaut. Die Grotte baute Adam Tobias Kracker aus Wien, der Skulpturenschmuck ist ein Werk von A. Rigi, A. T. Kracker und unbekannten italienischen Bildhauern. Die wertvollste Barockplastik in Brünn, ein einmaliger Beispiel des barocken Naturalismus' und Illusionismus' von wesentlicher Expressivität. Aus dem eigentlichen Brunnen wächst ein dreiseitiges Felsen.

Auf seiner nordöstlichen Seite sitzt nahe dem Gipfel eine allegorische Figur, die sich an einem Köcher mit Pfeilen stützt. Unter ihr ist ein beflügelter Lindwurm. Auf der nordwestlichen Klippe sitzt eine Statue Babyloniens mit der Krone an ihrem rechten Fus, rechts ist ein beflügelter Löwe. Auf der Südklippe befindet sich eine allegorische Figur Persiens mit einem Füllhorn, rechts von ihr kriecht aus dem Felsen ein Bär. Auf dem Gipfel der Grotte steht auf einem überwundenen Drachen eine Figur Europas in triumphaler Haltung, mit einem Zepter in ihrer Hand. Das Ganze wird von kleinen Lebewesen und Drachen belebt.
