Corning Inc. is well known around the world for it's role in creating glass for dishes, thermometers, ornaments, fiber optics, and TV screens. In the past, glass objects were produced by gaffers, who would blow into the heated glass through a tube and shape it by turning and waving it different ways. This bronze statue is in the heart of the Gaffer District of Corning, NY, their world headquarters. Many artists use this method to create one-of-a-kind pieces, but it is not generally used in manufacturing today.
