This monument is dedicated for those soldiers, who had fought against the fascist army in the end of the WWII in Hungary.
The tank-combat for Hortobágy village and the surrounding area were stands 6 days long. (14-19 october 1944)
This vehicle is a fully renovated light tank (T-34), it was the prevalent war machine of the Soviet army in the WWII. You can reach this monument from the main road of Hortobágy village next to the Borsosi-lake. The park around the monument and the lake is a part of the National park of Hortobágy, but you will not need any special licence to visit it. (to require have permission for visit other parts of the park)
The monument itself is standing on a concrete underside. The tank is corresponding to the used vehicles of the WWII. It's still in excellent condition. The monument has been built by the council of Hajdú-Bihar Country and the population of Hortobágy village in 1978.
