Created by Felix Lucero in 1945, this group of statues has been moved twice by the city of Tucson. The current facility was built in 1982.
In the Christian Gospels, the Last Supper was the last meal Jesus shared with his Twelve Apostles and disciples before his death. During the course of the Last Supper, and with specific reference to eating bread and drinking from a cup, Jesus told his disciples, "Do this in remembrance of me".
The Crucifixion of Jesus is an event described in all four gospels which takes place immediately after his arrest and trial. The death of Jesus by crucifixion is a core event on which much depends. It represents a critical aspect of the doctrine of salvation, portraying the suffering and death of the Messiah as necessary for the forgiveness of sins. According to the New Testament, Jesus rose from the dead after three days and appeared to his Disciples on different occasions during a forty day period before his ascension to heaven.
There is also a diorama showing Pontius Pilate washing his hands of the decision to crucify Jesus. There is also a representation of the tomb where Jesus was laid after the Crucifixion.
